As well as the academic study of Celtic languages and cultures, Celtic at Aberdeen also presents Gaelic-related development programmes in the Highlands and Islands, providing courses which combine both academic and contemporary elements. Both language and literature courses are taught in Modern Irish, Earlier Irish and Scottish Gaelic. Modern Irish may be studied as a minor element of a degree, and Earlier Irish may be selected as a full or minor element of a degree, and at postgraduate Masters and doctoral level. Scottish Gaelic may be studied at all levels. Modern Welsh language is offered as a minor degree element.

Does this institution have a Socrates-Erasmus student mobility programme for Celtic?
Yes, exchanges with UCD&Cork. We are disappointed that there are no European programmes which would allow UK students to study at other UK institutions - eg Welsh in Wales, Irish in N.Ireland.
